Jeannette acquired a position at Public Assistance where she spent most of her working career. This continued even after she became ill, she selflessly continued to help others to receive services/assistance.

In 1995 she married Chip Korngiebel who served in the United States Coast Guard. Jeannette had her first child Hallie who was born in Sitka, Alaska in 1996.
