Mary Matheny Jahns

  Mary Matheny Jahns of Prineville died at her home on Fri., Sept 1, 2000. She 
was 83 years old.
  She was born Oct. 18, 1916 to Samual and Sally (Schaeffer) Matheny in 
Alpena, Mich.
  She graduated from high school in Tyler, Texas and entered nursing school 
shortly thereafter. She joined the Us Army in 1942 and continued her nursing 
education untill separating in 196. In 1948 she married Homer Jahns in 
Portland. The couple then moved to Prineville.
  Mrs. Jahns was a nurse for Dr. Wood and Dr. "A." Adkins for many years. 
She also served as a county health nurse before retiring.
  She enjoyed quilting and won several awards in the county and state fairs. 
She also won a high acclaim award in Portland. She enjoyed sewing, knitting 
and was a 4-h leader.
  Survivors include her son, William Jahns of Prineville and one daughter. 
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
  A private cremation was arranged by Whispering Pines Funeral Home.
  Memorials may be made to Pioneer Memorial Hospice.
