Virginia Marie (Sherrill) Meats

Virginia Marie (Sherrill) Meats of Prineville died at St. Charles Medical 
Center in Bend on Sat, Oct. 14. She was 61 years old.
  She was born on Feb. 9, 1939 to Newton J. and Emily (Ehrike) Sherrill in 
Tacoma, WA.
  She attended school in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High School in 
1957 and then attended University of Puget Sound in Tacoma receiving her 
bachelor of Science degree in 1961. She majored in occupational therapy with 
a minor in psychology. She interned in Hawaii and Denver, CO. In 1962 she 
recieved her occupation Therapy Rehabilitation Certificate. On Oct 26, 1968 
she married Alfred (Johnny) Meats in Sherwood.
  Mrs. Meats worked at Damasch State Hospital and the state of Oregon for 
approximately seven years. She was a Homemaker, 4-H leader and Girl scouts 
leader untill returning to work at McDonalds Restaurant 4 years ago. 
  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, gardening, collecting 
figurines, plates and farming scenes. She also enjoyed spending tie with her 
  Survivors include her husband Alfred Meats of Prineville: daughter, Anna M. 
Hubbell of Newberg, Sherrill J. Hill of Wichita Falls, TX: son Joseph S. 
Meats of Prineville: sister, Betty J. Barnhart of Tacoma, WA grandchildren, 
Karah M. Hubbell and Kristi Hubbell of Newberg, Tanya M. Meats and Melanie A. 
Meats of Prineville and numerous cousins.
  She was preceeded in death by her parents. 
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Ronald McDonald House, 
1700 NE Purchell Blvd., Bend, OR 97701.
Private cremation will be held. 
Memorial Services will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church at 2 PM on Fr. 
Oct, 20.
  Whispering Pines funeral Home is in Charge of arrangements.
