William (Bill) Henry Simmons

William (Bill) Henry Simmons of Prineville dies Thurs., DEC 14, 2000. He was 
78 years old. 
  He was born July 8, 1922, to Jordan and Jessie (Cain) Simmons in Ima, NM He 
attended school in Tucumarie, NM and Amarillo, TX. He also attended the 
school of mines in Socorro, NM 
  Following school he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for two years and 
worked for Lockheed aircraft Corp. in Los Angeles. He moved to central Oregon 
in 1948 and worked on the ranch of George Barrett. He married Elsie 
Fitzgerald in 1949. In 1950 he opened William H. Simmons Real Estate & 
Insurance in Prineville which he operated untill 1985 when he retired.
  HE enjoyed ranching, hunting, fishing, following his children in their 
sporting events, service oriented work in the community, welding and working 
on his farm equipment. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, BPOE Elks 
1814, Gideons, Prineville Masonic Lodge 76, Royal Arch masons Central Oregon 
chapter 33 and past member of Kiwanis Club, Deschutes County Cattleman's 
Assoc. and the Oregon Cattleman's Assoc.
  Survivors include his wife Elsie of Prineville: sons, Henry C. and Susan 
Simmons, Jordan M. and Lauren Simmons of Prineville and three grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son. 
  Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church or the 
Gideons at P. O. Box 114, Redmond , 97756
  Memorial services were scheduled for this morning. Whispering Pines Funeral 
Home is in charge of arrangements.
