Searching for Linda Overlander, daughter
of Lorna, grandaughter of Edward Whitten
of Redmond, Oregon. Linda and I are cousins
and the end of the direct Whitten line. I
think the homestead that they lived on was
sold to the school district and the high
school now occupies that land. Would
like to hear from anyone knowing the history
of this land, its occupants since 1952 when
Edward died. Also am interested in
Eddie Whitten, born 1913 and buried in the
Redmond Cemetery.Help appreciated.

We are searching for descendants of
Knut Thevik, the son of my wife's great-grandmother
who emigrated from Norway to Alaska with
his pregnant wife Hanna. They got 2 children,
John and Mathilda. John lived and died in Kodiak, Alaska. He was not married. Mathilda was, according to Oregon Marriages
1906-20 Record, married to Gust A Berg in
Deschutes County 02 Mar 1918. She died 06
Oct 1919 in the same county, kin in Norway
says it was due to the Spanish Flu,
but before she died she got a son named Robert.
At this point our information about descendants end. We would be very grateful if you could advice where to ask for any more information about Robert (and his father). Thank you in advance

| SEARCHING FOR BROTHER BORN ON MARCH 21, 1966
AT ST. CHARLES HOSPITAL IN BEND, OREGON -
Released to adoptive parents on 3/26/66. I am looking for my brother who was given up for adoption when I was thirteen years old. At the time my parents told me that the baby was stillborn. For many years I had a nagging little suspicion about the events surrounding my youngest sibling's birth, but my parents never spoke of it again. After their passing I decided to confirm if there was anything to my suspicions. I traveled to Bend, OR and researched my mother's hospital records. I was able to determine that the baby was born alive and released to adoptive parents, but could not legally obtain any names. I know he is aware that I am searching for him because I registered with the OR Dept. of Human Services and they were able to locate him quickly. That occurred in March of 2002. He indicated to them at the time that he would be interested in meeting his siblings, but since he has not followed up and registered with them they are legally unable to release any further information to either of us. This leaves me in a quandary as I do not know his reasons for not registering. I do not want to intrude in his life in any way, but would like to explain to him why I believe my parents may have made the decision to give him up for adoption and not tell myself and his other siblings about it. I would also like to give him extensive information regarding our geneology. Brother, if you read this message: Please know that I wish the circumstances of your birth had been different, although I had no knowledge or control over the decisions that my parents made at time. I would love to meet you now, but do not want to intrude in your life in any way without the feelings being mutual. If you do not want to have contact with me, I guess I have no choice but to accept that you have your reasons and hope that in the future you may have a change of heart. Attempting to contact Robert Barker or any of his descendants. He at one time lived in Bend and may still be living there. I believe he is the grandson of my grandmothers sister. His grandmother would be Gertrude Hodgson Barker and my grandmother was Carrie Hodgson Wells. This branch of the family is difficult to contact and this is the first lead I have had in years. The only information I have is from his father's obituary, His father was Maurice Orley Barker and he died in Eugene 9 May 1983. His mother was Elene C. Barker and she died in February 1993. He had a brother, Wood Barker who died in Portland on 14 June 1997. Wish I could tell you more. Believe his age to be somewhere between 50 and 70. If you can help me I would be very, very grateful. Thank you. Contact: Harold Wells |
