Taylor, Hugh: In search of my Great Grandfather, Hugh Taylor. While in his early 50's he left Jersey, Ohio soon after the death of his wife in February, 1910. He worked on irrigation projects along the Columbia River. He may have been drawn to various members of the Condit family who moved to Oregon in the early 1900s from both New Jersey and Ohio. One or more of the Condits may have been preachers who established Presbyterian churches in the area during this period. Any suggestions or guidance will be greatly appreciated. Please E-Mail to: Ron Taylor fatron@ix.netcom.com

I am searching for information on a WILLIAM ROBERT JOHNSON who was lilving in Grants Pass in the 1930's or 1940's. He was married to IVAH ELDORA DAY and had s son named MARK,born in 1930. William was born Nov. 21, 1897 in Sumter,Jefferson Co., AL. He died Nov 21, 1948 in Grants Pass. He was the son of STEPHEN MILTON JOHNSON and LENORA ROCHELLA DANIELL. Paternal grandparents were WILLIAM ROBERT JOHNSON born 1845 in Tallapoosa Co, Al. and ZAMER SEWELL,born in 1848 in Cobb Co Ga. Maternal grandparents were MOSES NATHANIEL DANIELL, born 1838 in Clark Co Ga and NANCY WATSON born in 1835 in Ga. Related families are CROW, LAND, MELTON, FORTNER, MORGAN, SHARRITT, CHAPPELL, TATE. How did he get from MOrgan Co, Al in 1910 to Oregon? Did he go with some relatives? He was an orphan by 1909 when he lived in Carter Co., OK. I would like to find any one who can remember him from Grants Pass. Perhaps there is a neighbor or an old obituary notice with relatives or pallbearers listed. He had a brother named GEORGE W. JOHNSON, born, 1887, that we have never been able to locate.
