Klamath County was established in 1882 from the western part of Lake County. It was named after a tribe of Indians the white men called Klamath, and is the fourth largest county in Oregon. Three-quarters of the county is in forests and there are many lakes and mountains. One of the most popular tourist attractions is the beautiful Crater Lake National Park.
