Etta Mae Detering

Etta Mae Detering died on Wed, May 14, 2003 in corvallis, Ore at the age of 93.  She was born Jan 30, 1910 in a farmhouse in buena Vista, Ore, to George and Myrtle Smith Wells.  etta Mae gradated from Oregon College of Education and worked as a Registered Nurse.  She worked as the Public Health Nurse for Lewis count washington for several years where she met and married Fred Detering on Jun 12, 1948 in Olympia Wash.  They moved to Monmouth thirty years ago where they became members of the Christ church.  Etta Mae created ad was head of the Orego Nrses association.  She ws the first recipient of the American Red Cross lifetime achievement award in 1989.
    Etta Mae is survived by her husband of 54 years, fred Detering of Monmouth her stepson, arden Detering of Wenachee, Wash., stepdaughter, Veld Schoessler of Portland, sister, alma braton of Olympia, Wash; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren,,,,,,,, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in deat by her two brothers.

Visitation was held Thurs, May 15, 2003 at Dallas MortuaryChapel.  Services will be held at 1 p.m. Fri. May 16 at Christ Church, Monmouth with internment following at Buena Vista Cemetery.
